Been a while

The next Teacher Training is this weekend and I am excited to have Neeru Rani Poddar teaching the Feldenkrais Method on Sunday.
Has anyone studied this method?

Peace of mind

Whether it is found in a vacant church, on a drive through the fall foliage, or on our mats... it is just a breath away. Finding the stillness at the end of my breath always work for me.

yoga classes

I taught 4 classes today and each was different...my own members...city hall employees...adult education and my own members again. Adult Ed has 25 - all levels, including chair! I love this because my focus needs to change with each group and yet, my focus is the same. Start where you are - vinyasa krama.

Teacher Training

So I just invested in the Yoga Journal Teacher advertising, website only. Yikees - $$
Actually, it was reasonable and I hope it brings in some fun people for the next training.
Has anyone tried this?
Always looking for feed back.
Talk to me!

Teacher Training

I love the challenge my new group offers! They are young, strong, and intelligent! They keep me on my toes and in the books to provide concise information. Each group has had their own personality and I am grateful for what I learn with each. This group blends nicely. I am always interested in seeing the connections form and the Yoga Sutras played out. Chapter 1 next weekend :)

Knee to Chest

In observing class today, I noticed the struggle for some to bring their leg through from Down Dog to Warrior 1. It was in the sweep of stepping one foot between the hands without floating the knee outside the ribs, by-passing the knee to chest movement. What happens? Tight hamstrings? Weakness of abs? Weakness of hip flexors? Habit? Large chest?
All can be the answer or just one. Practice the movement of drawing the knee foward to the chest and aim the foot forward! Try not to open the hip. Then keep practicing!

New Poses

I love learning new variations/poses:
Kneeling Swan
From Extended Child with the knees wide, walk forward on hands and round the back.
Drop the hips while lifting the feet, toes together, arching the back.
You should be on the inner knee, not the knee cap! The upper body looks like a Cobra or Up Dog.
Fine stretch for the front body and front thighs.
